UPDATE - Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored my swim, I am very grateful.

I am now on a mission to raise as much money as possible to make sure we have all the right equipment for the Jamboree. I am reaching out to anyone who feels they may be able to support this fantastic group. The leaders are amazing and allow us so many great opportunities so I'd like to give something back by helping fund a new tent which is desperately needed.

Hello. My name is William and I am 11 years old.

I have been a proud member of 1st Clifton (York) Sea Scouts group since I was 6, starting in Beavers, moving on to Cubs and now in Sea Scouts. 1st Clifton are so inclusive; they have always believed in me and adapted things to my needs when I have needed that. Most importantly they have always just let me be me! I have learned so much during my time with them and always have lots of fun. One of the most enjoyable parts of being a Scout is the camps we go on and I have been lucky to go on a few!

In July 2024, North Yorkshire are hosting Larkin International Jamboree. This is the first time an event this big has been held in North Yorkshire and it will be an action-packed week of fun for over 4000 young people! It is an amazing opportunity to have an International Jamboree so close to home as usually only one or two lucky Scouts get to be involved once every four years!

I like to help people and I like to push myself, so on the 9th January 2024 I will be swimming 500 metres (20 lengths) to raise some money to help fund this once in a lifetime experience. This is a huge challenge for me because I have never swum that far before but I know I will do it because I never give up! A very big Thank You to Susanne from Froggy Legs Swim School who is going to support me in my challenge.
