Weʼve raised £820 to support the on-going development of the Paediatric unit at Airedale Hospital

Funded on Thursday, 29th August 2019

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

During my 6 year old sons recent illness we have spent a significant amount of time in the Paediatric unit at Airedale Hospital. I have seen the great work the Doctors and Nurses of the unit do with limited resources. While they rightly concentrate on the medical requirements of their patients there is also an attempt to address the softer side of caring for children. The unit are always fundraising to purchase non medical items such as fold out bed chairs for parents to stay with their children, activity packs and decorations.
These items are aimed at making the unit a more welcoming and less scary place for children to spend what can be a long time.
I am running the Leeds half marathon on Sunday the 12th of May and would like to ask that anyone who would like to support me with a small donation towards this very worthy cause to contribute to this funding page.
As Airedale has a charitable trust I could have run on behalf of that but I am keen to donate any money I am able to generate directly towards the Paediatric unit whereas the Trust spreads any money generated across the entire Hospital.
Any donations no matter how small would be greatly appreciated and will make a real difference to children in some very challenging situations.
    Thanks, Andy

Just a quick update to say I completed the half marathon on Sunday. I definitely felt the impact of a lack of preparation but got round (2hrs 4 mins) largely due to a great crowd on the route and the motivation of the generosity you have all shown towards this fundraising initiative. A huge thank you to all of you for your donations which Bruce and I will be taking to the unit to donate. I feel far more proud of being able to make this donation that I do about the run although I am glad I finished on my feet even if only just! Cheers Andy
