Story
Many of you who know me well, will know I have been doing quite a bit of running in the last couple of years and after my fair share of Half Marathons and 10k's, I felt it was time to tackle the big one and a few months ago, I signed myself up for the Dublin Marathon on Sunday 28th October 2018.
On 6th July of this year, my Mother passed away after a 13 month battle with Cancer. She faced this battle head on without any fear or worry about what was ahead of her. She was completely at peace with everything that was happening and displayed such inspiring strength in what was a hugely difficult time for everyone.
During this time, she was treated by many amazing Doctors and Nurses, specifically at the incredible MacMillan Unit at Antrim Area Hospital, which is where she peacefully passed away. The care and attention the staff here demonstrate is truly inspiring. They helped and guided Mum and the rest of our family so much throughout her journey. As Mum put it so well, the staff here are like "little angels in uniforms".
It will give me great satisfaction and immense pride to run the Dublin Marathon and raise money for this very special place. I can't even begin to properly tell you how good a cause this is and how well the money raised will be utilised.
Thanks so much in advance, now I just have to try and make it to the finish line.....

6 years agoDublin Marathon completed in a time of 4 hours 14 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed the run, a very well organised and fantastic event all round. A special mention to the people of Dublin who came out to support all the runners for the entire route. Their support and encouragement was incredible and made a massive difference. It really helped me dig deep when I had to. A massive thank you to each and every person who donated. I genuinely can't believe the amount of money I've raised and I can't wait to present the cheque to The MacMillan Unit.

6 years ago4 days out until the Dublin Marathon. Tapering phase nearly complete (didn't enjoy it as much as you'd think!) and carbs well and truly loaded! (Enjoyed that! 🍝) Hopefully good to go on Sunday. Incredibly we've went past the £3,000 mark. Absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity shown by everyone! 😁👍🏻 Thanks again!
