David Martinez, a 26 year old son & brother, cousin and inspiring chef was tragically killed in a senseless knife attack in East London on 6th of March.

David worked at the Volunteer in Baker Street for just under a year and was devoted to leading and developing a young kitchen team. David was a caring person and a good friend to us all here at our pub, as well as being a incredibly hard working member of the team. As you can imagine, this sudden news comes with a massive shock and we would like to thank those who have already supported the family at this challenging time.

We would like to support David’s family wherever possible at this incredibly difficult time. As well as the enormous emotional impact of losing a loved one, there has been the added stress and upheaval of flying back and forth from David’s native Spain to make the necessary arrangements, dealing with grief in an alien environment with limited language skills. Currently, David's family are patiently waiting in Spain for David’s body to be released after which cremation, repatriation and funeral will take place. In order to help family cover the enormous costs in both countries, we have set this fundraiser.
