    Story

Issues such as access to education, a basic human right which a number of us have been guilty of abusing and taking for granted in the western world, is inaccessible to a number of children from countries such as India due to number of complex issues.

Issues involve even members of even their own families not allowing them to attend school, and instead forced to work, beg ( even mutated in some cases so they can beg for more), or get married off at a young age to men in their 40's plus and more.

This is a knock on effect of the lack of education and money in these communities.

Maher is a refuge for people subject to abuse and neglect, and gives them a place where they can learn, grow and be loved in a safe environment.

Any money raised from fundraising will contribute directly towards:

    - Educational costs ( Books, pens, pencils, learning programs and more)

    - Upkeep of the Maher homes across the country

    - Community Development

    - Food, water & clothing

You can visit their website https://maherashram.org to see a full overview of this charity and the outstanding contribution they have provided towards the communities throughout India.

Sister Lucy and her associates who run the centre are nothing less than a blessing, and their selfless attitude and devotion to their cause is worth every penny I and others can raise for them.

Here is a short clip of a documentary that was made about the center to give you more of an idea of how it is run.
