    Story

Chris Wardley passed away aged 57 years on Friday 28th December 2018 after a 5 year battle with cancer in the liver and both lungs. He was diagnosed 17th December 2013 with bowel cancer that had spread to his liver. In 2014 he had both of these operated on for 11 and a half hours in surgery to finally get the all clear in December 2014. He was then in remission until December 2015 where we found out it had come back but in his liver and both lungs. We was told the tumours were one cm to big to operate on and no chemotherapy would shrink it only help keep it stable until his body became immune to the chemotherapy. Chris was on his three month break from chemotherapy when he suffered from a blood clot and pheumonia that took 6 weeks to clear up. We then went back for his scan on the 18th December to find out Chris was now terminal and days to live. Chris stayed at home and managed to open his Christmas presents with his wife and children on Christmas day. He then managed to get up again on boxing day to see his son darren and his sister in laws family. Chris then returned to his bed where he died at home holding his wife and daughters hand playing his mum and dads favourite song on Friday 28th December at 7.20pm.

The HCCN nurses at the woodlands centre helped Chris though his darkest times and always made him smile especially Maureen and Cheryl who were amazing. They continue to do this for our nan (colleen board) who now also faces her final journey. Chris wanted us to thank the nurses with asking for donations to help them to continue to support cancer patients in Huntingdon area.

Chris's Children Ian ,Darren ,Chelsea & George would like to have the pleasure of presenting this to the nurses in honour of there dad.

Please dig deep this is a charity that support so many people at the hardest times of there lives.
