Mari walked with Javier all the way from Honduras in order to give her son with Down Syndrome a better chance at having a full life where he can learn, be safe, and feel hope for a better future. They are currently in temporary housing with a family in San Diego where Javier is in school for the first time in his life, learning to read and write and making new friends! Mari has enrolled in free English classes and is getting connected to resources that will set she and Javier up long term, so they can be independent.
