I have been selected to represent the Warwickshire Scout group in the European Jamboree in 2020 to be held in Poland. Part of the Jamboree initiative is that each participant has to fundraise the required funds (which is £1000) to enable them to attend. I am going to swim, cycle and walk the 1000 miles distance that I would need to travel to get to Gdansk, to try to raise the funds to get there.

The aims of the Jamboree are based on three sections:

1. To encourage interaction of Scouts and Guides of various cultures, languages and various countries and to encourage them to challenge themselves, search for the skills they have and practice new ones.

2. To learn skills through activities, discussions, and workshops so Scouts and Guides can gain the knowledge of exactly what is needed and be aware what to look for in both their local communities and globally.

3.To use those skills and knowledge to decide where the helping hand is needed to act and make a change in society and to act wisely and decisively. It wants to encourage Scouts and Guides to be active, not to stay passive, to act whenever it is needed. Every Scout and Guide possesses potential to become a driver of social change in their community.

I have been involved in the Scouting/Guiding movement since I was 6 years old and I am a volunteering as a young leader with the local Beaver group that young children from local villages attend.
