Our daughter, Darcey Elizabeth Pugsley was stillborn on 25th March 2019 at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Darren, myself and Darcey were treated with (and continue to be) such compassion, dignity and respect by all staff we encountered during this horrific and unimaginable time. Before Darcey, I certainly wasn‘t aware a bereavement midwife existed or that there’s a dedicated room for delivery for all the “sleeping” babies.

Darren and I are passionate to do something in Darcey’s memory; we got to meet her and believe me when I say, she was magical. So we would like to give something back to the Maternity Unit that are guiding us through the hardest thing any parent has to go through, to honour this magic.

We had a dedicated midwife to get us through the labour, who then put together our memory box for Darcey. These memory boxes are provided by an amazing charity, 4louis.co.uk and it is something Darren and I will cherish forever and look back at the one day we had with our beautiful, blonde-haired little girl.

Obviously, we would like to raise as much money as possible, but our aim would be to donate a cold cot to the maternity unit. These cold cots allow parents to have as much time as they need with their longed for baby/babies. No parent wants to say goodbye to their baby, but our cot certainly allowed us a very special day with Darcey.

1 in every 225 births ends in a stillbirth in the UK...9 babies every day. Whatever money we raise, no matter how big or small, it will be in Darcey’s memory and help other parents to say goodbye to their babies. Whether that’s payment towards one memory box or a cold cot...it’s all because of Darcey.
