On Wednesday 5th September 2018, Dave Mansfield suffered a cardiac arrest whilst playing walking football, something he had recently taken up and thoroughly enjoyed. Sadly he never regained consciousness and died one week later, at only 62 years old.

Dave’s love of football had stretched since childhood and over the years he played a number of times a week, from five-a-side on a Thursday, eleven-a-side on a Monday to League matches at the weekend and he would also referee matches for various local Leagues: Leics Youth League, Hinckley & District Sunday Football League & the Leicester Church League. He was well respected and hugely popular across all his teams & fellow officials.

To honour his love of football we felt it appropriate to support something he loved. Working together with Leics & Rutland County FA we aim to use any funds to help referees and/or walking football but also to honour Dave, eg an award at the Referee Summit in his name.
