Story
Meet my mate James. He's just your typical 6 month old. What stands out to me the most is his super-hero power : - he's always smiling. He has the most radiant belter of a smile; whatever is going on in life one look from him & he makes you feel better. His grin is so infectious you cant help but grin back at him & he never stops, no matter what. He's my definition of a PMA. He's an inspiration to me & all those who know him - but why?
We all know life hurls 'curve balls' at us. Some we dodge, others just graze us and then there are those that can knock us off our feet. James full on 'Curve balls' arrived early in life.
James was born with Polymicrogyria, agenesis corpus callosum & plagiocephaly. The resulting cysts in his brain grow rapidly and swell, causing major issues with his head shape and size. So much so that he can only lay on one side of his body. His head is getting so heavy that even crawling is a battle for him. Every day he endures the challenges associated with restricted visual & physical mobility, Pain, discomfort & poor sleep patterns. And yet, even on his worst days you guessed it - the lad continues smiling and laughing.
To help improve his quality of life & future James needs a special helmet and ongoing treatment. Initial Cost £2,000 +. The helmet has to be worn 23 hrs. a day and over time will re-shape his head. This treatment is essential to give him a brighter future.
To help raise awareness and support him I have set myself the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge on Friday 24th May. 24 miles & 3 peaks all completed in less than 12 hrs...Your contribution would have such a huge impact on him so anything you can donate in sponsorship would be very much appreciated.
James 'curve ball' has not finished with him just yet as he continues to battle its effects on daily basis, but with your kindness, generosity & support you can lessen its impact.
Please help me help James keep smiling!

5 years agoThanks to all for the support so far. Your kind words and generosity are a major source of encouragement to me & making a huge difference to James. I met with his mum n dad over the weekend and suffice it to say they were overwhelmed and tearful over everyone's compassion, help and words of comfort for James plight. James is taking everything in his stride, Reckon his grin is saying - 'uncle Dave: - You can do it - make it happen!'. As for me, am as ready as I can be fitness wise. Starting on wed, I will be carb loading in readiness.

Good luck James, and keep on smiling. Well done Dave, I take it you accomplished your task? I would have loved to have been with you for the walk but I had other commitments that day. Best wishes
