The nursery is located in Jamisa vilage in The Gambia, one of the poorest countries in Africa. It opened in March 2005 with charity funding, and it was soon recognised by the Gambian Education Board which awarded it a Certificate of Incorporation and charitable status. The nursery has grown from a handful of pupils to 222 children in 4 classes. It is thriving, and it provides education to girls and boys who would otherwise have received no education. The student body is derived from rural areas, whose families survive through subsistence farming.
