Back in March 2016 I bought a Fitbit and started walking, not long after I started walking I included the odd few jogs and then took part in my local Parkrun. In April 2017 my dear friend tagged me in a beginners running group organised by a local athletics club called Waveney Valley AC.

At the end of the 10 weeks and much to my surprise, I decided that as I had enjoyed it so much I would became a member of the club and started to train twice a week.

For those of you who know me personally know that never in a million years did I or any of you think that Debbie and running would go together!

Since that date in April 2017 I’ve gone on to make some amazing friends - entered proper races and come away with medals and t-shirts. It really is the best thing I’ve ever done! My longest race to date is 10K and I’ve decided to enter myself into a half marathon 😳 taking place Sunday 4th of November in north Norfolk - Broadland half

I’ve decided to run for the Royal Airforce Aircadets, specifically 221 Great Yarmouth Squadron. During the last year my daughter Amy has become a Cadet. Her long term goal is to join the RAF. I’ve seen first hand the training, skills and experience the Cadets gain - they cover such a huge range from learning to fly through to basic life skills and an extensive training programme with an academic syllabus. Her confidence has grown and much of this is down to the encouragement and support from the Squadron.

The money I raise will go towards camp equipment for the Cadets.
