Story
Our early years class room and outdoors need a bit of love!
At Dochgarroch ELC we welcome children between 3-5 year olds. We want to make their space inclusive, stimulating and a really happy place to be!
The early years are a massive milestone in a child's development and has a real impact on the rest of their lives. The environment is integral to ensuring all of our children settle happily, develop well, and are kept healthy and safe.
The Early Years team at Dochgarroch ELC are motivated to raise enough money to be able to redecorate and redesign our space following the latest evidence for child development. Your money will go towards new chairs and items for our room to encourage learning through play at all ages and stages in the ELC.
We plan to all show our commitment to this fundraising by walking the height of Mount Everest, which is 8,849 meters or 29,030 feet, a very long way for little legs. We have measured our our school field and we believe we can manage this in 38 days, which will take us right up to the summer holidays.
We also want to develop and improve the outside area for Early Years to make it something that we and the children can be proud of.
A few ideas of how we can spend the money raised outside;
Creating lots of exciting 'areas' for the children to explore eg. water area, sand area, role play, technology, reading/writing area etc.
Making or purchasing attractive and engaging fixed equipment.
Purchasing purposeful and challenging resources to enable the children to learn through play.
Thank you for your support

3 years agoWe did it we have walked the distance of 17,698 meters which is equivalent to twice the height of Mount Everest! This wonderful feat was done by 3,4 & 5 year old legs, with a few older ones thrown in for good measure. I am so very proud of each and every one of these children, they have a list of things they want to buy to make our outside place the best place to play and learn. Please donate to our just giving page if you can, and share this with everyone you know, tell you granny, aunties, uncles, friends and the people next door.

3 years agoWe really pushed ourselves this week and walked our biggest amount of meters yet, 3736 meters, next week will be our final week and we will have smashed our target by completing this early by 3 weeks! The children doing the.walk are amazing and they keep going, even on the days they feel tired they just keep walking because they know that we have to hold up our end of the deal. Thank you again to everyone who has donated, please share the link to our page for one last big push to reach our monetary target.

3 years agoWell we have done our first Mount Everest, we are smashing this! We are now doing 816m and very day come rain or shine. What we thought would take us to 28 days has taken us 11 days, so we know we will manage our next Mount Everest and keep going until the end of the term. Please share our page on your social media or tell you friends and get them to give what they can, every penny helps. ♥️
