The Learning Development Centre at St Julian's School, Newport, runs within a mainstream comprehensive school but specialises in helping children with special educational needs. Each year the school enables these children the opportunity of an annual trip, previous ones including Harry Potter World and to see The Lion King in theatre. Following the theatrical trend, this year we are venturing to London again to see Aladdin, but due to budget difficulties, the costs for the coach there and back are rather high. For many of these children this is an opportunity they may never experience again, therefore I will be running the Newport Half Marathon in order to reach our target to provide the transport that we require.
