For nearly 2 years home educated young people in Yorkshire have had access to fishing lessons with lisencsed level 2 angling coach Ben Fox and assistant coach Elias Ame. This venture is known as 'Fish Ed' and has been a massive success, helping countless kids to catch fish, learn about the Enviroment and get outside. The benifits of fishing has been highlighted by the continued involvement of children with learning difficulties, disabilities (both mental and physical) and mental illness, we have several regular participants who have had there lives changed slightly by being able to go fishing!
Sadly our costs have been increasing steadily and we are having to charge for sessions currently, something not everyone can afford. We have come up with this idea to solve that and get more young people on the bank. By raising our goal we will be able to run a minimum of 35 sessions which will last between April and October in 2019. And if we don't meet out goal any money will be used to subsidise the costs. Home education isn't free, the education, for the most part is paid for by the parents. Both Ben and Elias were and are home educated respectively and have wanted to offer free sessions since starting fish Ed.
