We are very lucky to have such a large, spacious garden attached to our day nursery in Padgate, Warrington. Our children love the area so much, and we find that outdoors the children learn so much about the world around them, about themselves, and they develop so many physical, social, emotional, mathematical, and communication skills, as well as developing their imaginations, and their exploratory skills! But with the area being tarmacked or grassed, the play areas can be difficult for our very young children under the age of 2 to negotiate around on, and the grassed area can become too wet and muddy for them.

Our plan is to create a baby garden in an area of the garden, which can be used any time of the day by the babies. It will have softer ground surfacing, and still be included within the nursery garden, but separated by picket fencing. It will be a place where they can develop new skills, learn new things, and have lots of fun!

As we are a small nursery we need some help to be able to create this area. We are currently discussing as a staff team lots of ideas to fundraise and do sponsored activities ourselves, as well as including the children in some fun and exciting fundraising! We need to raise at least £2000 to fully cover the work and materials to create the area we need, and the director of Birch Grove will be putting £1000 towards the garden to support us in our quest to have a lovely baby garden for our under 2's!
