    Story

Children today are tomorrow's leaders and yet the education system in the UK faces some fundamental challenges.

    1. 34% of teachers feel ill-equipped to deal with the mental health problems they face.

    2. Over 50 000 children who were referred to mental health services in 2017 were rejected so did not receive help

    3. The pressure on young people is intense and 24% of 14 year old girls (Millenium Cohort Study) reported that they had symptoms of depression. Other young people are turning to self-harm or developing eating disorders as a way to cope.

    4. In 2017 eight out of 10 school leaders in primary schools said fear of academic failure has led to increase in mental health issues around exam time.

Our programme, Colourful Classrooms, has been designed to help young people build greater emotional resilience; it helps them to learn relationship skills by building their emotional intelligence, their interpersonal skills and increasing their sense of self-worth. . We give them tools so that they can process the emotions they feel and deal with negative thoughts in a constructive way. We also help them build a better relationship with themselves which is the start to learning the art of collaboration. It helps them explore their emotional world in creative ways using colour. We have piloted it already and have got really positive feedback. Check out our FB biz page for reviews.

Our education system needs a fundamental overhaul - recently state schools tried to stop teaching on Friday afternoons in a bid to save money! State schools have very tight budgets and limited flexibility in terms of the curriculum because of the requirements of the national curriculum. That’s where we need your support because then we can subsidise the cost of our programme to make it affordable and accessible to more schools.

I am asking you to sponsor me - I am doing a 50km walk on 15 July 2018. The race to the stones will be physically challenging but with your encouragement I know I can do it because your support will enable us to make a difference. Our programme costs £10,000 a year to run and we want to subsidise that by 50% and so have a target to raise £5,000. This will also support the research required to prove that methodology works so that in the future we can get businesses to fund these programmes.

As a thank you, if you donate £50 we will send you a copy of our book Colourful Boardrooms anywhere in the world providing you give us your address. If you donate £100 we will share with you your DNA blueprint based on your colour patterning providing you with a report too. Whatever sum of money you donate, if you opt in to our newsletter via our website you will receive updates on the impact your donation is having on making colourful classrooms more of a reality.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.

Just over a week ago I walked into Hitchin Dry Cleaners and shared a story which led to "from Pre-loved to Re-loved". This event will provide fizz, fun & fashion. All proceeds will be go to Colourful Classrooms. Tickets can be bought from http://bit.ly/Prel0ved. If you can't make it buy raffle tickets as the top prize is a weekend in a Jaguar or Landrover of your choice; there's also a magnum of champagne, a meal for two at Chia and a cut and blow dry. You can purchase those direct from me. I have sold £50 of raffles already today!

I am doing this because my eldest was diagnosed with dyslexia, dyspraxia & processing issues at 8. She did not get the support she needed from the local school.
