Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page for Epilepsy Action.
The event we are participating in is the Cumbrian Commotion - part of the Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge Series - and takes place around Grizedale Forest in the Lake District.
The challenge involves off-road running (about 10km), mountain biking (upto 25km) and kayaking (upto 1.5km). Some of us have done triathlons (though no idea why...), some have not - however, we all thought that this was good idea at the time and signed up...... *** SEE UPDATE BELOW ***
Russ suggested raising money for Epilepsy Action. This charity provides support to those with epilepsy, provides funding for research and raises awareness of epilepsy. Epilepsy affects 1 in 131 people of which only 52% are controlled through drugs.
Russ' wife's 4yr old nephew developed a severe form of epilepsy and, although now controlled through drugs, it was a frightening experience for the family - the support provided by Epilepsy Action helped the family understand what was happening, a valuable resource and source of assurance at a very stressful and worrying time.

UPDATE: We all completed the race on Sunday March 21. The event ended up being a run of 1.9km, 17.8km Mountain biking, 5.3km run, 0.5km kayak, 3.8km run - with a total of climb of over 800m..... The organisers obvioulsy wouldn't cater for us "southerners" and made us run/ bike up and over a mountain ! Chris & Enrique finished in about 3h30 with Becky, Jane & Russ coming in at just under 4hrs. More details to follow....
Originally our team included Andres Marull - unfortunately he wasn't able to join us on this adventure due to getting a great new position within the company. Thanks for agreeing to do this, would have been great if you could have made the main event.
