Story
Hi one and all!
For some of you it won't be a huge surprise that I am taking on yet another crazy sporty challenge. However, this time we are going bigger, better and longer and all for a fantastic cause. I am delighted to be doing the Ironman UK 2014 raising funds in Heather Hopfl's name and for Macmillan cancer. An ironman is circa a 2 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and then finished with running a full marathon. Heather is a dear friend and colleague and is well treasured in a very wide circle of academic networks and is currently ill with a brain tumour. I first met Heather in the very early days of my PhD and was immediately touched by her wisdom and caring nature. I am doing this for Heather as there are a huge number of people saddened by her illness both inside and outside the University of Essex Business School (where she is a Professor) and feel at a loss as there is very little that any of us can do. I also know that Heather is extremely grateful and appreciative of her care by her Macmillan nurse and so know the funds are going to be going to a well worthy cause. Me and Heather are very thankful of any pennies you can donate. I will be going many extra miles to raise every single bit of the target. Be rest assured that I am going to be relentless and get over that finish line. Thanks everybody!
