Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I have choosen a charity that is close to me for my first London Marathon attempt. Hannagh, a child of my friends Elle and John, enjoys the benefits of being able to attend the White Lodge Centre where she receives lots of specialist support in line with her needs. She also attends their nursery, flourishing in its nurturing and loving environment.

Thus it is a real privilege for me to be able to do my little bit to help support the great work done by all involved at White Lodge in caring for Hannagh and all the other children, their families and carers. Ps - Just finished the marathon, feeling sore but on top of the world. I completed in 5 hours 9 mins 56 seconds. However as you can see from the photo, I ran dressed as a Pink Fairy. I decided early on in the marathon that  having a good time was far more important that getting a good time. The crowd support was amazing ..... "you big fairy" "nice one Cyril,nice one son ...", "looking lovely" ... I got into character so well that I even tried to enter the ladies toilets in Waterloo Station without realising, until the women waiting in line told me of my error.

I completed without stopping, I did not hit the infamous wall and had an amazing experience. I nearly got interviewed by the BBC but was beaten to the camera by another fairy .... at least it was another fairy and not a Rhino or Jaffa Cake !!!! I even got stopped on the street afterwards by tourists to have their photo taken with me. It is tough being famous for a day. Maybe it will be you next year ?????

Thanks again for your generous donations and your kind words. Both made a huge difference in terms of my motivation during the tougher parts of the run (all the miles after mile 3 !!!). More importantly, between Hannagh's mum and I we have raised over £2,300 and counting. This money will make a big difference to the White Lodge Centre.
