Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for the 2009 Paris Marathon - the big day was completed on Sunday 5th April amid some considerable gallic chaos!
However, I did complete the course in 3 hours 40 minutes and 47 seconds coming 8,105th out of a starting field of 31,373. Thank you for all the support you provided. Help me make the target of £5,000 and donate now!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Cordwainers Company Charities will receive your money faster. If you’re a UK taxpayer for every £1 you give the government will contribute 28 pence to the charity.
The sponsorship you provide will go towards the training and education of students. In particular providing them with the necessary skills for working in the UK footwear industry. Given the prevailing economic climate this is a worthy aim, providing young people with the "wherewithal" to establish themselves as an active member of the working population.
Please be generous. Thanks for your contribution.
(The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers is a City of London Livery Company. Originally a trade body representing those leatherworkers using goat hide from the Cordoba region of Spain in the 13th century, the Company has since evolved into a charitable body supporting not only the footwear industry in the UK but also the territorial army, the Royal London Society for the Blind and organisations supporting former service men and women. Further detail regarding the Cordwainers can be found at www.cordwainers.org ).
