Why sponsor us?
John, my brother and one of my best friends, was 32 when he died in a cave diving accident on 28 September 2008 - the day I ran the Berlin marathon.
John lived for diving. During the many years that he dived, some of his colleagues were rescued at sea by the RNLI.
John knew that one day he may need their help and so he donated to the RNLI regularly by direct debit.
Why give money to the RNLI?The RNLI is
the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. It receives no government funding and relies on donations for funding.
The RNLI crews are mostly made up of volunteers. 22 people are rescued each day by ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Training is vital to allow RNLI volunteers to go to sea and save lives every day.
It costs £1,000 (€1,400) to train each crew member, each year.
Don't forget to Gift Aid your donationIf you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
