Elite Marathon runner Darran Bilton is taking on his biggest challenge yet in 2009.
He is the current 2008 Champion Master in the Flora London Marathon and was also the 2007 Champion Master in the same race (Master is a veteran over 40 years of age),
This year, Darran is aiming to be the first Elite athlete to complete and race in both the Flora London Marathon and the Edinburgh Marathon.
Currently riding high on winning the 2009 Silverstone Half Marathon on 15th March, Darran said: "I am delighted to be running the 2009 Flora London Marathon as defending Masters Champion and helping to raise sponsorship for Pickering and District Rotary Clubs selected Rotary Charities. I am particularly thrilled with their selection. Your support will be greatly received and I believe faithfully and ethically applied".
The Pickering and District Rotary Club are throwing their support behind Darran's Marathon efforts and Peter Illingworth, International Chairman of Pickering and District Rotary Club said:
"Never before have we had the privilege to support a local athlete with such a tremendous track record and pedigree who indeed wants to put something back and make the world a better place. He really does like up to the Rotary motto "Service above Self".
