Event: Baxters Loch Ness Marathon 2008, on 5 October 2008

Story

Hi.

Thanks for coming to this page. Now I just need to get some dosh from you :-)

I am running the Loch Ness marathon mainly because I am having a mid life crisis and I figured it would be cheaper than buying a porsche or running off with a 23 year old. To be fair its also a lot more possible than them.

Why Loch Ness? Well, I have foolishly told my 6 year old Jude (checked jim jams in picture) that while I run the marathon he will be guaranteed to see Nessie. So whatever happens, the weekend will end in tears - probably mine from the pain and humiliation as I crawl the last 10 miles and Jude's as he realises that dad is a fibber.

I am running for Scotscare as I upset most of the Scottish nation by publishing a calender of drunken Scotspeople on my work blog. It was meant in jest, but I got deluged with complaints, mainly from PC English people. My friends North of the Border thought it was a giggle. But beneath the joke, there are a lot of Scottish people who come down to London and find themselves in need of help and assistance. I'd like to think if I was up in Glasgow and finding things tough, there would be a charity like Scotscare (maybe 'CockneyCare?!) to help me along. It will also salve my conscience! You can check out the great work they do here : http://www.scotscare.com/index.php

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me. I am rubbish with sponsorship forms and dont want the stress of finding £20 too much and not knowing whether to pocket it or not :-

Scotscare gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now! THANKS!!

Darren
