Story
My cousin Sophie, who was born to Garry and Jo Pinder, on the 5th July 2008, was born extremely premature at 26 weeks. She only weighed 1lb 7oz (660g). As she was so small and premature she had to be transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Homerton Hospital in Hackney, North London for specialist treatment.
The care and support for both Sophie and her parents has been amazing and I would like to thank the unit by raising funds towards the building of a family unit. This facility is vital for families who live long distances away, like Sophies parents, which will allow them to stay 24 hours a day with their baby, which will help them through these difficult times and assist in the development of their child.
I was also a premature baby, weighing 3lb 8oz, so I am now pleased to have the opportunity to give back to this worthy cause, by running the Duathalon, a 10km run, 20km bike ride amd 5km run, at Richmond Park on the 14th September 2008
Please donate however small an amount -it will be appreciated- and if you want to come and cheer me on then you are more than welcome!
Many thanks,
Darren
