Look at me! I'm built for comfort, not speed! I'm more cricketer than athlete. Still, I manage to haul this sort of weight around Britain's major cities, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Sheffield and, er, Reading FOR FUN.

Sometimes I just want to give something back, though, so this year I'm running from Newcastle to South Shields, a journey of exactly 13.1 miles, which will take around two hours (a bit less, I hope), in aid of the Stroke Association.

When my Nanny had her stroke she could hardly communicate with us, couldn't recognise everyday objects, certainly couldn't walk. She was supported on every step of her recovery by the Stroke Association which got her back to living as normal a life as possible. Grandad became her carer, but they managed to give him vital time off during the week as well by taking Nan out and giving her a group of people to socialise with. She loved going to her stroke club!

Your donations will help other stoke sufferers on the way to getting their old lives back. What's more, you'll help fund research into reducing the occurence of strokes. Many stroke sufferers get back their lives as a result of the work of these guys!
