Story
Thank you so much all of you who have given so generously to this cause. We broke though the £2012 target 2 days before the race so the pressure was on for me to finish!
I'd never run a marathon before and had not run more than 16 miles in training, so I took it steady but still found the final 10 miles very tough. The support of the crowds though was amazing and carried me through in a time of 4 hours 43 mins. It was of course a fabulous day for running, cold but with clear blue skies and sunshine - all in all an amazing experience!
Breast and Prostate cancer are the two most common cancers in the UK and about ¾ million people are living with these diseases right now. Women have about a 1 in 8 lifetime risk of developing breast cancer and men about a 1 in 9 risk of developing prostate cancer.
We will all know friends or family whose lives have been affected by these diseases and have seen the impact that they cause. The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care (together "TeamPB") provide important practical help such as telephone support, support groups and the care of specialist nurses as needed.
Please help if you can :)
