On the 2nd October 2008 myself and 10 of my friends will begin climbing Kilimanjaro the highest mountain on the African continent (19,336ft - 5,895m).  The climb will take place over 6 days with the final ascent being made initially by torch light early on the morning of October 7th.

Only around 50% of climbers make the summit, for clarity the other 50% don't die they simply go back down having failed usually having been overcome by altitude sickness!!  This low level of success is down to extreme altitude rather than the complexity of the climb itself.

I have paid for the trip myself so all of the money I raise will go to my chosen charity Sight Savers International.  I have chosen Sightsaver International for the fantastic work they do in developing countries in providing treatment for river blindness.
