Update
I am pleased to report that I made it to Aberdeen in one piece on Saturday 13 October, although the legs were a bit stiff for the next few days!
We set off at 7.00 am (in the dark!) and it took a total of just over 10 hours (a little under 8 hours in the saddle) to cover the 93 miles to get there. We were lucky with the weather - a dry day and slight tail wind, which was perfect. As a group we only had a couple of mechanical problems, and I was relieved that neither of them involved me - as I'm not very quick at changing tyres! There were a couple of hills that I will happily never cycle up again, but otherwise we all arrived in Aberdeen in reasonable shape.
Many thanks to all who have sponsored me. The total sponsorship fund (including Gift Aid) now stands at over £3,000, which I think is a fantastic amount and much, much more than I ever imagined would be raised. I am sure the British Heart Foundation will put it to good use.
