Seaton Delaval, one of the most attractive and atmospheric 18th-century houses, with its dramatic facades and interior, its fine grounds, and its spine-tingling view up the coast, and over the former industrial and mining landscape which made the North-East's past, is for sale, and the National Trust is seeking to raise £6.3 millions by 31 December 2008 to acquire it. To have it in the National Trust's hands to the benefit of the whole North-East community - and of the whole world - would wonderful, and we must make it happen.
