Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RAFA gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
What have I done so far? On Remembrance Sunday 2008, I walked to work from my home in Caythorpe, near Grantham in Lincolnshire, to the offices of the RAF Families Federation at Wittering, near Stamford in Cambridgeshire. The total distance was 35 miles and it took me 10 hours in total.
What then? A sponsored 6-hour swim at Belton Woods Hotel near Grantham on Fri 13 March 2009. I swam non-stop for 6 hours, completing more than 6 miles in the pool and ending up with seriously wrinkled skin!!
Why am I doing this? To raise at least £1500 for RAFA, which qualifies me to participate in a charity 9-day trek in China, this October. I promise all donors that every penny donated will go to RAFA - I will personally pay the £1400 required to cover the costs of the trek so you are not funding my trip. Having reached my target, I can now focus on getting fit for the Trek - I'm told it's like walking up and down stairs all day so the spaniel is in for some long walks and I may have to visit the Gym!
STOP PRESS!! Due to unforeseen circumstances, the China Trek has been postponed until Apr 2010 so I have opted to switch to an equally challenging trek, this time along the Inca trail in Peru. The event takes place in November 2009 and all funds raised will still go to RAFA. Need to start altitude training.........
