Story
Thank you for visiting our fund-raising page.
As you know we have entered a Deutsche Bank team to run the Safaricom Marathon in Kenya in June. As this has been described as being one of the 'worlds toughest marathons' we are doing the sensible thing by only running half of it. We hope that this will not deter you from supporting us in raising money for a very worthy cause.
The Marathon itself is run within the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, 140 miles north of Nairobi and attracts all the top Kenyan long distance runners. The Marathon is in its 10th year and is run on dirt roads over two 21km loops through the game reserve. It is also run at altitude, 5500 feet, and if the helicopters and spotters do not do their job, we will be sharing the track with Rhino, Elephants and Zebra.
We first came across TUSK last year when we sponsored a team and became so embroiled in the charity that we wanted to help by entering our own team this year. Tusk is a great charity run by a small energetic and dedicated team. As well as helping protect the endangered wildlife they also run numerous educational projects across Africa. This is one of a few charities supported by Prince William.
The race itself is run on Saturday 27th June with a start time at 7am to avoid the 28 degree heat. We will be staying in a tented village within the game reserve.
We hope you are able to support us by donating to TUSK via justgiving. This is the best and most efficient way of donating money to TUSK and offers the charity transparency and quick access to the money.
Thank you for your support !!
