Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm raising money for the Sailors' Society, which is a charity supporting merchant seafarers. The Sailors' Society wants to make sure their voices are heard, their troubles listened to and their needs are met.

The Sailors' Society is an international Christian charity working in ports around the world where the need is greatest. Their network of chaplains come alongside seafarers on ships and in ports to provide Christian ministry, welfare care  and practical support.

There are many wonderful charities supported in the London Marathon; for cancer, for MS and other things. These are really important charities. However, there are many men and women who work in international shipping without a lot of the support we take for granted on shore. Yet without them where would we be? I am supporting this cause because I work in the international commodities trade and finance sector which also could not thrive without the important work of merchant seafarers.
