Woking URC supports Christian Aid, a charity working with the poorest people in our world to help lift them out of poverty. Christian Aid believes that everyone is equal in the sight of God and therefore works for and with people of all faiths and none.

Story

A long-standing member of the church community approached me with the vision of installing a defibrillator on an external wall of Woking URC, for the benefit of anyone in the community who may be unfortunate enough to need it. There are already two such devices in Woking, outside the Coroner’s Court and the Fire Station, where someone can call 999, and be given a code to access them. These devices are designed to be used by anyone with minimal or no training, and have saved many lives, enabling patients to access prompt intervention, in those vital moments before paramedics arrive on scene.
