Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money for Cancer Research UK.

We have now successfully completed this event so thank you everyone for your donations. We are planning more trips so keep coming back to find out more. In the mean time read on to find out more about this one and why I chose to do it.

I chose this charity because unfortunately one in three people are affected by cancer, so if you are not directly affected there is good chance that you know someone that is.

My first notable experience of just how many people cancer effects was 4 years ago when I went along to support my partner, Cat, at a 'Race for Life' event in Cwmbran. I'm not ashamed to admit that it brought a lump to my throat reading the huge number of dedications to friends and family written on the women running by.

And closer to home,  a very good mate of mine, Neale,  has recently lost his Dad to lung cancer.

Being a relatively new Dad myself I can't imagine what it feels like to lose a family member. Even more reason to help prevent this disease effecting so many people.

Getting cancer is not as all doom and gloom as it can and is beaten  by many people, who go on to lead rich and fulfilling lives.

As long as generous donations to Cancer Research UK keep on coming I hope one day there will be a cure.

To help them continue their work Neale and I are cycling the Coast 2 Coast route from 9nd to 12th October.

The route is as follows;

When:Sat Oct 9, 2010 (BST)
Where:Whitehaven to Keswick 32 Miles

When:Sun Oct 10, 2010 (BST)
Where:Keswick to Alston 45 Miles

When:Mon Oct 11, 2010 (BST)
Where:Alston - Consett 36 Miles

When:Tue Oct 12, 2010 (BST)
Where:Consett - Tynemouth 29 Miles

I planned to finish in Sunderland but Neale being a geordie, didn't want to end up surrounded by maccum's!

My training has started by uping the amount of days I cycle to work, and being more dedicated to attending the gym, subject to our son Louis giving us a good nights sleep!  I will keep you updated with my progress and anything else you may find interesting.

Please help me hit my target of raising £997 by donating whatever you can comfortably spare.

With your support you can help around 30% of the population through Cancer Research UK.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks for your support, and please click the 'Donate Now' button to give what you can.

Every penny helps.

Thank you.

Deon.

P.S Please forward this page to your friends and family now :)
