Thanks for looking at this page - Robert Harris was the son of some very good friends of mine who was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in July 2008. Through their experience, it would seem that there is still much to learn about treating tumours in children and so anything we can do to further that body of knowledge has got to be a good thing. Sadly, Robert died just after Christmas in the same year, so in 2009 we swam the length of Derwent Water (5km) to raise money to help support the research that is being done at the University of Nottingham into less damaging ways of treating these tumours.
This year, we're swimming Lake Coniston, 8.8km this time, but having been so wonderfully supported last year felt we couldn't actively fund raise again so soon after but if anyone wants to support us I'm keeping this page open. Next year, we'll go a bit longer, Windermere anyone?, and see if we can raise money again. As ever, all support really gratefully received and, in fact, if you want to swim too then just give me a call and it can be arranged! 07836 618303
