Story
Friends,
The MDS: 150 miles, 40°C heat, sand dunes and snakes, a 10kg rucksack and a water supply designed for a man at least 4 inches shorter than me.
In April I am going to be running in the Marathon des Sables through the Moroccan Sahara. Over several legs (one of which will be a non-stop 45-miler lasting at least a day and a night) I will face heat, blisters, dehydration and an iPod ration of only thirty minutes a day. I am running in aid of Help the Hospices, a charity that is very important to my family, not least for the care that the Hospice movement was able to give to my father when he was found to have terminal cancer.
My place in the Marathon des Sables is my own and every pound you donate will go straight to this excellent organisation. And remember, you are not sponsoring me for a marathon; you are sponsoring me for five and a half. That is great value for money.
Thank you for your donation. Your support will spur me on over dunes and rocks and the finish line.
