Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Dibbles dawdlers are taking part in the 2013 trailwalker challengehttps://www.oxfam.org.uk/trailwalker. In short, it is a 62 mile trek across the South Downs from Portsmouth to Brighton. Roughly speaking this should take 30 hours. Yes. A full day and a bit of constant walking with only short breaks every couple of hours to take on food, change socks, and cry gently in a corner.

Debbie (or Dibbles – not diblet. Google it and you’ll see why) wanted a challenge and as an avid walker and fitness fan this extreme challenge ticked all the right boxes. But she needed a team. And who better than her unfit, nerdy brother Steve, and mum Jan who, by her own admission, is no spring chicken. Luckily Sam joined the team who is fairly fit and experienced in this sort of thing from doing Moonwalks, races for life and spending all day everyday chasing around looking after children.

So now we have to train. A long walk a month to prepare our feet for the trials, and each person has a personal crusade to get fit. Sam is taking up running again. Deb is taking her baby, I mean dog, Gibson on long walks. Jan is hitting the gym and developing a steely determination to prove to people mature people can mix it with them young’uns. Steve is fighting his chocolate demons, abandoning the car for a bike, and gyming whenever he can whilst proving that nerds can be fit.

We need to raise £1500 to be able to take part in this challenge. The funds will go to Oxfam - a worthy cause indeed. Please support our challenge. Thank you.
