Mission accomplished

It is with such a joy of fulfilment that I am writing these few words of sentiments, which I consider a great achievement for myself to complete the Reading Half Marathon on 29th. March 2009.

 I have full filled my dream by not only finishing the race but also raising the funds, which is more than twice of what I originally targeted and now, I won't be surprised that it may even reach three times of that!

I have a confession to make now that I have finished my challenge. I did put myself through some strenuous training that I had hiccups along the way and I was even advised by my Doctor in a polite way not to run the race but he insisted that if was going to, then I should take it very easy and do it in my own stride.

 A few of my good friends who were concerned about me, were also going to donate funds towards my worthy cause for me not to run the race. But, God has been good to me and he gave me the strength and grace to accomplish. And, you will be surprise to know that, I did have enough strength to finish the race with a 50-meter sprint.

I am quite touched by the inundated messages and phone calls, encouraging and supporting from the time I launched the appeal for which I am ever so grateful. I have said it before and I would like to say it again, I have no words to thank you all enough for your generous donations. God will bless you many folds.

I do hope and pray that I will be able carry on with this trend for years to come.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I, Wilfred Dilip Tisseverasinghe am now at the ripe old  age of  51,  very much looking forward to take part in the forthcoming Reading Half Marathon on Sunday  March 29, 2009.

I aim to do this 13.1 miles  half marathon  towards this chosen worthy Charity outlined below. God willing, I intend to finish the race, and if for some reason  I cannot complete, I would like you all to sponsor me for the every full mile out of the 13.1m I complete.

What the charity is about.

“The Patrician in need”  appeal  was  launched in 1998 by St.Patrick;s College Jaffna, Alumni Association UK.  Since, 1998 The Association has sponsored each year about 400 students out of almost 2000 students at St.Patrick’s College, Jaffna, Srilanka, who were either orphans or underprivileged children  who have no means to pay their school fees, due to the prevailing situation (civil war) in our homeland. The SPC, Jaffna, AA UK is a registered charity ( No: 1088167  ) since 2000 and has been fully committed  to this cause. The situation has escalated to the worse in the recent past and they are in greater need than ever before.  Therefore, the money I will raise will go towards this appeal to help the unfortunate and destitute children.

I am hoping to raise about £2,000.00 and I am in no doubt that you will give me all your support and help me with your generous donations, to raise enough funds to reach my target for this worthy and humane cause.

27/03/09 Just an up date:

I am very pleased to let you all know that, the fund raising has exceedded my predicted target, which has really taken me by surprise. But, I am sure that this not going stop my good friends who are yet to make their contributions, to do so. Once again, thank you all for your kind gesture and I don't have enough words to express my appreciation.

I have almost completed my traing programme and looking forward for an enjoyable run on 29th. March 2009.
