Story

Update 17/04: I successfully completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on 16th April in aid of the Leicester Hospitals Newborn Baby Appeal. The day started at 4am with a 3 hour drive before taking the first steps of the day. I completed the walk in 10 hours and 58minutes which was under the target of 12 hours. Thank you to everybody who has sponsored me - the money raised will help to make a real difference to many people and the pain I felt at times during the walk and afterwards was well worth it.

About the Walk - Not to be confused with The Three Peaks Challenge this adventure is every bit as tough. It involves climbing 3 peaks, Pen y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough as part of a 25 mile circuit within 12 hours.

I will be climbing 7000 ft with, luckily for me, a much more exprienced walker who'll be carrying my survival kit and I'm thinking of hiring a donkey to carry my food supplies! 7000 ft is equivalent to climbing to the top of the Empire State Building 6 times or Barclays Canary Wharf Head Office 13 times!

About the Charity http://www.uhl-tr.nhs.uk/fundraising/newborn-baby-appeal - This appeal is about making the Leicester neonatal unit a centre of excellence for the sickest and most vulnerable newborn babies.

The Newborn Baby Appeal is about not only providing for the care of the babies but also will help to offer an even more welcoming and friendly environment for parents and families.  It is about making sure the hospital has cutting-edge technology available for the babies in their hands and being able to provide comfortable and friendly accommodation for parents to be close to their sick child

They are hoping to raise enough money to pay for:

Overnight accommodation rooms – as all parents ideally only want to be a "dressing gown" distance away from their poorly baby.

Specialist Omni beds – high technology cots, giving the very seriously ill, the best possible chance.

Parents facilities – where parents can make a cup of tea and support each other away from the intensity of the ward.

Private rooms – in the very worst case scenario, mums and dads can say goodbye with dignity, in a room designed to help them cope with the impending loss.

JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Barclay Bank Plc have kindly agreed to match every pound you donate up to a maximum of £750.
