Every 12 weeks apparently fit and health young people die in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions!

Hundreds of young people die unexpectedly of heart defects every year. CRY works to raise awareness of Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) and campaigns for proactive screening of young people. It offers help and support to those who have suffered a loss, provides medical information, carries out Mobile Cardiac Screening and ECG Testing Programmes within local communities and contributes to medical research. For more information please go to www.c-r-y.org.uk.

Suzis’ Story:

My son Luke died suddenly on Sunday 28th June 2009 in the early hours of the morning. His death was so sudden and such a shock to us all that even now it doesn't seem real. He was so full of life, he and Sara his fiancee were saving to get married in 2011, and he had his whole life to look forward to.

Luke died from a genetic heart defect called A.R.V.C - at least 12 young, and apparently healthy children and young adults die from this and similar heart defects every week. In some cases the first sign a family has of this is when they lose their child, as we lost Luke.

Since losing Luke all his brothers and sisters have had to undergo tests to make sure they don't develop this hereditary disease, these tests are ongoing throughout their lives. CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) gives massive support to families like us who have to live under the threat of this condition for the rest of their lives. They promote early testing, help the children through all the trauma of treatment and give support to bereaved families - and that's just the start!

Please support Adam to raise money for CRY - if we can help just one family from suffering the devastating loss and heartache that we endure every day at the loss of Luke it will be worth every penny you can give. Thank you.

- Susan Arnold (Lukes very proud mum)
