Story

Hi guys thanks for coming to my page.

In May this year my Uncle Neville died after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease for the last few years of his life. Having seen this horrible disease reduce an incredibly independent man I had the greatest respect for to a helpless man entirely reliant on the support of others, I have decided to accept the duel challenge of climbing one of the highest peaks in the world and of more importantly raising a minimum of £3000 for the Alzheimer's Society (who you can read more about below). As you can see, I am not far off my target now and have done much better than I actually thought I would. With this in mind I am asking you all to sponsor me as little as you can afford in order to support this brilliant charity. It really is worth it!

Alzheimer's Disease is a debilitating illness, not only for those suffering its direct physical and mental symptoms but for those close family and friends who must watch their loved ones decline to a state far removed from that of their earler memories. It is from my direct observations of this fact that led me to support the Alzheimer's Society, a charity that not only seeks to find medical assistance and cures but also to provide emotional and very real support to the carers who more often than not choose to put their own lives on hold in order to maintain the quality of life of those diagnosed with this terrible illness:

*The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia care and research charity for people with dementia, their carers and families;
*The society provides information and support services, funds research in to cause, cure and care and provides caring grants for people with dementia and their carers;
*Dementia affects people of all ages, races and social groups;
*Over 750,000 people in the UK have dementia. More than half have Alzheimer’s Disease;
*1 in 5 people over the age of 80 are affected by dementia;
*1 in 20 people over the age of 65 are affected by dementia.

I'm sorry If I'm laying it on a bit thick with the information but it is important, and believe me, what little support you can provide will be hugely beneficial. If you would like to support both myself and the Alzheimer's Society please do so by first sponsoring me as little money as you can possibly afford. You will be paying your money directly to the Alzheimer's Society. Please remember that it is not a competition and that you are not obligated to sponsor as much as some of my more financially successful friends (damn the swines!). If you can only afford as little as £5 it will all be appreciated and will help me on my way. Secondly, please invite as many of your friends as possible to join this group and strongly encourage (or otherwise nag) them to support me in the same way you have chosen to.

Remember, it doesn't matter how little it is. It is all appreciated!

Many thanks for your support.

Dylan
