Story
Hello & welcome to my fundraising page.
My name is Benji Rodgers-Wilson & I’m from Melbourne, Australia.
I'm on the first stage of my expedition around the world by bicycle & sailboat, which I expect to take a few years. I started in Melbourne in December 2006 and I’m currently riding up Australia's east coast seeking a yacht ride to South East Asia.
To learn more about my expedition and to follow my progress, visit me at www.earthodyssey.net
I have decided to use my expedition to raise funds for World Land Trust.
Lets face it, mother earth has been having a hard time lately and we all have a responsibility to protect her. I am undertaking this zero-emission journey using leg & wind power only, in part to highlight the harm done to the environment by global warming as a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases. I also want to encourage others to live sustainable lives as well.
The World Land Trust is one of those charities that actually gets to it and takes action that genuinely makes a difference. So far it has created protection zones in over 300,000 acres of ecologically threatened flora & fauna habitats. These areas include tropical rain forests, coral reefs & coastal steppes. The World Land Trust is also deeply interested in & active working towards solutions to the atmospheric CO2 problem & climate change.
It is wonderful organization & you can learn more about it at www.worldlandtrust.org
Unlike many similar organizations, the WLT manages to use a very high proportion of donated funds (85%) to do real work for the environment. I believe this Trust is a fantastic cause and I would be very grateful if you would dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. World Land Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
My expedition is self-financed, so the money you give through this site goes to the World Land Trust.
Thank you so much for your support.
