Story
The rumours are true!
I am running/walking/crawling in the Lewa Half Marathon, in Kenya, in the mountains, in mid-summer. After you stop laughing, I would like you to take a moment and consider sponsoring me in this effort. After all, it's not often that a middle aged, out of shape guy gets seen running in the wilds of Africa. So for something so unique and worthwhile, I hope it will be worth your digging deep and providing me the encouragement I will need to compete.
I am not above accepting special arrangements in order to solicit your donations. I've thought of a few below but am open to any suggestions you have.
If I survive its worth X, X can vary based on your ability to donate
If I actually finish the event its worth X+
If I finish within 4.5 hours its worth X++
Now some of you may think 13 miles within 4.5 hours is a piece of cake, I will remind you, I don't run, it's at six thousand feet altitude, there are wild animals in the game park and guys with guns, just in case!!
It turns out I'm in this competition with some other less physically challenged EMEA BlackRock employees! While I can't compete with them from a time of completion perspective I know I can from a pledge perspective. I have the more compassionate, caring and broadest, circle of friends, co workers, business associates and just folk who would like to see me suffer! So please donate away and I will attempt to make us all proud.
We are taking part for a very worthy cause ‘Tusk Trust’ which aids conserving wildlife, promoting education and supporting community development programmes across Africa.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Tusk Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Please be supportive.
Many thanks
Eddie
