Right to Play are a really great cause, building sustainable sports facilities and programmes to help children reclaim their lives in some of the hardest environements (e.g. famine, war zones etc) in the world.

So along with another Reuters Colleague I have committed to do my little bit by undertaking this wilderness expedition with them. Seduced by the prospect a thoroughly different and awe inspiring experience I missed the bit in the brouchure that mentioned High Specific Strength and a "tough endurance factor" by the people at Adventure Cafe who are our guides!

Let me share with you how the event is described by our guides.

"An incredible voyage of discovery into the Western Highlands and into the most pristine wilderness in the British Isles - the incomparable Knoydart. Without roads, and with just a handful of buildings, this is an untouched treasure and we must tread lightly here, both savouring the challenging terrain, but also protecting the fragile eco-systems.

Our 3 day trek and 2 day wild camping will give us the opportunity to test our skills, our fitness, our resiliance and most importantly, to break free from our normal lives. Please Note - Mobile phones won't work, leaders will carry satellite phones for this adventure - for emergency use only!"

Those of you who know me will appreciate that taking on three of 3000 feet ascent will be an interesting feat! Not to mention the little detail that I will be carrying all I need on my back over the 45 or so miles!

This activity takes place from 27th September - 1st October 2007.
