Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I wanted to "do my bit" (again) and give something back to the Special Care Baby Unit in Poole.

I have decided (somewhat crazily) to enter the Devon Coast-to-Coast which is about double the distance of the last 1/2 Ironman (middle-distance Triathlon) that I did to try and raise some money a couple of years ago...

The pain from the 1/2 Ironman has now worn off and I thought that it was time to get back in training again in the hope of raising some more money for the amazing team at Poole Hospital.

Having trained for the last 6 months, this is what I'm going to do on the 9th/10th Sept:

The South West Coast 2 Coast (SWC2C) is an epic self propelled, 140m mile multi-sport traverse of Britain's largest and most beautiful peninsular. The SWC2C follows an un-contrived, linear route from the spectacular sea cliffs at the northern tip of Devon, to the jagged, wave crushed shore at Prawle Point on the southern extremity of the county.

Coast 2 Coasters trail run, road cycle, off-road mountain bike and kayak their way across the county on a course that takes in renowned sections of the famous South West Coast Path, two spectacular National Parks; Exmoor and Dartmoor, before finishing in a sublimely beautiful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The South Hams. The route also includes an ascent of the highest peak in Southern England and a kayak decent of one of the countries most beautiful waterways, the Dart Estuary. This one has it all.

In summary: Please give GENEROUSLY to help me get round the course - it involves the following:

9 Mile Run around Foreland Point in North Devon; then immediately into a...

55 Mile Bike Ride (on and off road across Exmoor & Dartmoor - i.e. VERY hilly!); then a...

4 mile SUMMIT run (i.e. VERY hilly!); then a...

ANOTHER 25 mile Bike Ride (across the rest of Dartmoor - i.e. VERY hilly!); then...

some sleep, followed by...

25 mile Mountain bike (properly off-road) along Dartmoor to the river Dart; then a...

10 mile Kayak down the river Dart; and finally a...

19 mile (oh yes, 19 mile) run to finish me off - from Dartmouth all the way down past Start Point to Prawle Point and finish in East Prawle in the very southern tip of Devon.

All for fun / Charity!

Now, please do give VERY generously to help me through the remainder of my training and to help me get round the course on the big weekend.

Any supporters would be MORE than welcome down in Devon but even just your thoughts and a few quid towards this worthwhile cause would go a long way.

Thank you to all the friends family and work colleagues who have supported and put up with my training schedule! The end is now in sight... all you need to do now is to SHOW ME THE MONEY!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Poole Hospital Wish List will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
