We fund pioneering research to save lives & improve outcomes.

Story

Our daughter Ella was 11years old, when she was diagnosed with Bone Cancer in Nov 2008 after a lump appeared on her leg in October 2008. Unfortunately it was a very aggressive cancer and had alreadyspread to her lungs , so treatment on Ward 27 was unsuccessful. She passed away peacefully at home in January 2009.  Her sisters, Giorgia, Carmel, her dad Mark and all our wider family and friends have been continued to raise funds in her memory- both for The Leicester Royal Infirmary Teengae Cancer Unit " Our Space Appeal" ( offline) and for The Bone Cancer Research Trust ( on this site). BCRT aims to improve the life chances of other young people affected by the disease. Bone cancer tends to affect young people aged 11-25years. The survivial rates for osteosarcoma have not improved in the past 20years, mainly because as a type of cancer it is rare. BCRT are the only organisation fund-raising for research to address this.

Thanks to all our friends, familiy and associates for the many brilliant things they have done in Ella's memory.

Big Love to you all Liane

Over 65 adults, children and wild safari animals ( teenagers with face paint and costumes!!)..... who'd have thought they could be so well behaved... they didn't even try to eat the dogs!! We were lucky to have blue skys and sunshine, a lovely stop at The Bradgate Pub and then back to the cabin for tea, chocolate brownies and Fiona's special muffins and tiffin cake!! A ray of sunshine in an otherwise rainy cold week!! Thanks Ella I am sure you had something to do with the weather.

Art House Annual Showcase of Extrodinary Art in Ordinary Houses Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th June 2012

This annual event is organised by a voluntary group of artists in the Stoneygate Clarendon Park area. Thanks to Kathy Klein and the rest of the Committee for managing to secure a donation of 2 minibuses to transport punters around the houses. Donations for the transport will go to BCRT and the Our Space Appeal. This means the elderly and disabled and people with children will find it easier to get to all the venues in one day and those with cars will not need to use them. Not only will you get to sample a fantastic range of art in houses and gardens,  you will also be supporting our fund raising efforts! Also look out for Ella's Toucan painting greetings card on sale for charity!!

Hope you can all join us for a relaxing day of musical talent, bbq, Bake a Cake for Bone Cancer, bar, auction, children's activities etc.

As usual I am asking for donations for the auction and raffle, bands who want to play, cakes for the cake stall and volunteers to help on the day. Thanks to everyone who has offered so far.

Another exciting development this year is that all the bands who have played over the past 3 years have been asked to donate a studio recorded original track for a Song For Ella Compilation CD, which will be on sale at the event to raise more money for the charities.

Songs For Ella June 25th 2011 in Granny Marie's Garden

A total of £2400 was raised from the event.  £828 for BCRT offline and the rest for Ward 27.

Check out the photos. We managed to pull together a change of venue for this annual music event. Unfortunately The Donkey Bar arranged a date without consulting me and I didn't find out until 3 weeks before which didn't give me enough time to organise. Gaz kindly gave me another date of 25th June, which I was then committed to as so many people had offered to help and bands were booked. However The Donkey then cancelled this. Just as I was ready to cancel the event my mum kindly offered her garden. With the help of Sinead, Alan, Karen we planned & orgnaised the event and thanks to all the help from other people, the event turned out to be a great success and a really enjoyable heart-warming day.
