On 30th June 2010 I leave the Uk for the trip of my lifetime.

I am an overweight, unfit, 42 year old with an ambition to climb the largest freestanding mountain in Africa.

My youngest son is disabled and in the last 11 years I have seen him overcome many obstacles. I thought it was about time I tackled some of mine - so I am on a drive to lose weight and get fit. Climbing Kilimanjaro is my goal and in doing so I am hoping to help other people.
