Story
In September last year some 'so called' friends persuaded me to take part in a 120k duathlon around Loch Ness (The First Monster). Those of you who know me well know that I'm not into exercise! Anyway training's going well and despite the nerves I'm looking forward to it. This is remarkable as I couldn't previously run from the front door to the gate without collapsing! My legs include a 13k (8 mile) run and 16k cycle.
At the beginning of summer my Aunty lost her battle to cancer. At times she was in excrutiating pain and the pain relief just didn't seem to touch it. Fortunately, I'd never been to Saint Michael's Hospice before and was shocked at just how much she picked up during her first visit . This was due to the marvellous doctors and nurses and beautiful and tranquil surroundings. The care provided really is second to none and I know it gave Mum some comfort to know that my Aunty was in such a caring and loving environment and that her final days were as peaceful as possible. As a result of this I decided to use my run to raise money for this charity.
The Hospice has to raise a massive £2 million a year to keep the facility and care going. I hope that I can contribute funds towards the £2 million. By doing this I'm saying thank you for the wonderful service they provide to so many people. It will also ensure other families will benefit from the comfort the Hospice brings at the worst time in someone's life.
I'd also like to say a huge thank you to Mark and my friends (you know who you are) who look after my littles ones so that I can train. Without your help I wouldn't be able to do this - it really is appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who sponsors me and remember:
1. I don't 'do' exercise, 2. I much prefer the good things in life, 3. I have 3 children aged 5 and under , 4. I love my bed too much - all of which make training harder 5. money goes towards a really good cause. Thank you xxxx
